Annesley

I really enjoyed Annesley last night. The music was good and I had a few dances. It was the first time I had seen Chris Dalton in action and wasn't at all disappointed, especially as he started with one of my favourite records Lend A Hand - Bobby Hutton. Good night all round as Pete played my number 1 Looking Up To You - Michael Wycoff. Off to Pilsley next weekend.

Record List

I have cut the records down to six and made three changes. Has anyone listened to a favourite of theirs yet? I shall be keeping Michael Wycoff and Willie Hutch on the list indefinitely.

Short Quiz

Just thought I would end this week with a short quiz.

Which soul singer was killed in 1984, the day before his 45th birthday?
Which record company does Michael Wycoff record with?
Which year was Willie Hutch born?
Where was Bobby Hutton born?
Which soul singer died suddenly on April 2nd 2003?

Skegness

Another weekender over, I can't believe how fast it goes. It was really enjoyable with a good mix of records downstairs where I spent most of my time as expeceted. Friday was more of a social night catching up with up with everyone. I had a few dances Saturday and thought Sean Chapman did a brilliant spot playing alot of crossover which I used to hear at the Hollingwood. Sunday afternoon was a bit disappointing as everyone seemed to drift upstairs leaving only a few downstairs. We left around 4pm, looking forward to the next one now.

Skegness Weekender!

I'm really looking forward to this weekend as I'm off to the Skegness weekender tomorrow. Hopefully we should arrive in Skegness around 5pm just in time to settle in and get ready for the off around 8pm. I think that I shall be spending alot of time downstairs as most of my favourite DJ's shall be appearing there, playing crossover and modern. Especially looking forward to Soul Sam, Mark Hopes, Rob Kay and Steve Austin. Don't think I shall be going for my dance record of 123 this time but I'll see how it goes.

The Victory Club

It was our first visit to the Victory Club in Sheffield last night. I didn't really know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. It was mainly oldies with a few R&B. The place wasn't very big but it had a decent dance floor. I will definitely go back at some stage.

End of an Era!

What a good weekend. Friday was the last night at Ponds Forge Northern Soul venue. I had been looking forward to it for weeks as my favourite DJ Soul Sam was to be the guest. I was not at all disappointed as he played a brilliant spot as usual. Infact I enjoyed the whole night. It had been one of my favourite venues, as it's clean, has a large dance floor and the music is mostly across the board soul. The soul night is now moving a few miles away to Kiveton Park. I hope to have many great nights there too. Last night I went to Pilsley which I enjoyed more as a social night.

Next Weekend

It looks as though I shall be staying in this weekend. I'm not too disappointed as I am really looking forward to next weekend. Friday night will be a little sad as it's the last Ponds Forge which I have always enjoyed. It should go out with a bang as the countries number 1 DJ, Soul Sam (in my oponion) is making a guest appearance. Saturday is Pilsley where we shall be celebrating my friends birthday who will be the guest DJ there for October.
